LSU Student Health Center Fire Response and Restoration
On July 9th, 2017, an electrical fire began in the ceiling of the LSU Student Health Center which left the west wing destroyed and the east wing unusable due to the heavy amount of smoke damage. NorthStar responded to the incident at approximately 4:00 AM, within an hour after the fire was contained and eliminated.
Due to the significant amount of structural damage, NorthStar began by removing debris and other hazardous materials before moving on to clear out the structure’s contents which included medical supplies, office equipment and electronics. Once the area was cleared, our team began the restoration process of ice blasting, duct cleaning, odor mitigation and equipment restoration.
After only 2 weeks, the university was able to re-open the east wing of the facility which resumed helping students immediately. By the end of July, our team had cleaned, disinfected and deodorized the more heavily affected west wing preparing it for reconstruction so that the full facility would be in use in time for the fall semester. Additionally, our team of equipment restoration specialists were able to restore a majority of the computers affected by the fire which meant securing critical medical data that otherwise would have been lost.
